All these things that I've done...

Hello to my little blog - it's been roughly 5 months I think? How's bloglife?
Let's just say I'm not surprised it's been so long - this little spot on the internet has not been much of a priority for me these days. Being eternally distracted with many different things has seen you lying slightly dormant. No matter - I'm here to update with some pretty pictures of the things I have created over the past few months!

As well as having some real nice photos taken of my scarves by a super cool gal Imogen, I've dabbled more in watercolours and I have just started having a go at polymer clay - so creative life is gouda! (when I get off my butt and do it that is)

Oh and here are some of the pretty flowers I have had the chance to do at work:

OH AAAND I went on an awesome holiday to London, Paris, Italy and Greece! But that's a story for another day I think...

Feeling crafty - DIY Camera Strap

Good evening!

I thought I'd try get back on this blog thing and post a lil summin summin re: my latest urges to be crafty... For me these sorts of things always come in waves, and lately I find myself coming up with ideas and getting super excited about diy-ing a whole bunch of stuff.

Today I made this:

Definitely nothing fancy, but it gets me excited for my impending holiday and it was heaps of fun to endlessly browse vintage and woven trims on etsy for hours before I finally decided on one! I love my film camera (crazy cheap but awesomely faithful ebay purchase) and I'm really looking forward to having it within easy reach while I'm out and about in the Europes.

I basically used an old lanyard and connected it to the camera with a few jump rings then sewed the trim together at the ends after threading it though where the original lanyard went - it was not complicated at aaall and definitely does not warrant a tutorial (that's for dang sure).

In other news Society 6 have free shipping this week so you should all get on over to my page and buy summin! Who ever wants to pay for shipping anyway??

OOH it's Daisy See Project NEWS!

So I am definitely queen procrastinator - but I can now say that I got there in the end!
The next Daisy See Project is almost entirely 'on the line' and ready for buying! Can you eeeven belieeve it? (Actually if you follow on instagram this is probably quite believable, because I tend to do most of my quick updates there...)

I have decided to take some quick snaps myself in lieu of getting a super skilled photographer and a model, mainly because I'm impatient and feel that I can still do a more pro 'shoot' further down the track.

Well this is awkward...

Wow. So "it's been a while" is a bit of an understatement hey pals?

Let's just say life gets in the way sometimes. Those of you that follow on instagram will see what the latest movements have been nothing extraordinary, but just distracting enough for me to stall big time on the latest Daisy See Project and writing in this here bloggy blog...

Never fear though, 2014 is the year! I'm even exploring the wonders of watercolours at the moment which is super fun (see below).

The Daisy See Project 2013 begins...

As the title of this post suggests, I have finally started the next Daisy See Project! Cue the confetti canons!!

This is the rainbow pom pom scarf, made from a super soft and lightweight 100% viscose and trimmed with rainbow pom poms from the super awesome Thatch & Thistle Supply Co.

I'm hoping to begin progress on other elements of the project as the days and weeks go on, however I do predict that progress may be a tad slower than last time around, thanks to some super fun (and not yet started) floristry assignments... boooo!

But please do stay tuned, because things will definitely be bigger and better this time around!

Today I made: A Circlet of Flowers!

I hope you're last week of August has started off as well as mine! Things are progressing well for the next Daisy See Project (I'm getting quotes from lots of lovely fabric printers and stressing over fabric choices!) and tafe is really kicking along now... Check out what I did today, I've been wearing it all afternoon and have been feeling particularly girly!

Printspiration: Escapology for Top Shop

I have a bit of a fashion fix for you this fine Monday evening in the way of colourful digital prints, yay!

Scrolling through my inbox the other day I opened up one of the latest Top Shop mailouts to discover a treasure trove of printy goodness from the label Escapology. I love all the prints, anything digital and mirrored is basically my favourite thing right now, and this sort of stuff will definitely be featuring heavily in the next Daisy See Project! Get exciited!

Smonday Sounds: The Lumineers

Guys! I'm back with one of my regular posts! How exciting! (Haha I use the term 'regular' quite loosely)

Now I mayyy be back into the swing of life after Glastonbury, but musically, I'm definitely still stuck there! This little ditty I'm sharing with you is one of my favourites by The Lumineers, it's such a great one to sing along to.... which is probably thanks to the simply worded and catchy chorus!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and soaked up the absolutely amazing winter weather Brisbane has been having lately.

Why helloooo!!

Apologies for my absence friends, I've definitely needed some time to get back into life after Glastonbury...

There's no major news at this point (allthooughh fabric samples have been requested - so yay for progress on the next project!) so I thought I'd take this opportunity to show you some of the lovely things I saw while on my trip.

And if I start to think about it too much, the end of all the fun is like the sadness that follows losing all your chips after tripping on a guy-rope (see above... and thanks to Andy making the above shot possible, your loss is my simile).

So I'm definitely moving forward now and throwing myself further into flower learnings and project planning, feel free to head on over to my favourite app Instagram to keep up with all the latest fun things.

Well... I did not carve the wooden beads myself, but I did paint them all glittery and stuff... It's just a little DIY in progress at this stage as I'm hoping to put them on some black string for a super fun festival necklace. No doubt I will make sure it's ready in time for my 'so-close-I-can't-think-of-anything-else' trip to Glastonbury!

Floristry is getting all intense with my final assessment due tomorrow, so I'd thought I'd share with you a little sneak preview. I had a practice run today after buying up big at the flower markets and this  was the result (apologies blurry phone shot). I quite like it I think... I'm going for a bit of a hippy theme, so hopefully you can kind of get that vibe!?

I hope May was a good month for you all. Hopefully I'll be typing more frequently soon, but for now I'm off to finish off the assignment. Hurraaah.

Sunday Sounds: Glastonbury 2013

Friends!
It's just a quick update this eve due to the fact that my life is SO insanely consumed at the moment with this crazy huge assignment for my floristry course (it involves the detailed profiling of 45 cut flowers and foliage... it basically ssccreaams FUN right?). Eugh. Anyway.

Instead of linking to a particular artist this eve, I'm going to share a super special Spotify Playlist I've put together in preparation for my impending visit to... GLASTONBURY! Yes, you have read correctly. Cue the long days and festival flags...



Only weeks ago I was dreaming of going back, and now it is actually happening (!!) thanks to the resale, a decent dose of good luck and plenty of patience.

If time permits I'll hopefully be putting together some tees for my posse to wear and sell to my fellow punters, so stay tuned for another illustration! I'll be so excited when I can actually let myself sit down and do some scribbling so I will definitely keep you aaalll posted... but for now - it's back to tha flowaz.

an update of sorts...

Hello hello, I hope this post finds you all well!

I just thought I'd touch base to offer the most recent excuse for my absence... but first, look at the pretty pattern I just made... future fabric print perhaps?

Ok, that's enough gazing now... Basically, my attention has been completely stolen by the mean beasts that are study and job hunting (ps: anyone need a casual employee that is super great?)

Buuuttt, as you can see from the craziness above, I'm still bursting with exciting plans and bright colours... it will all just be a matter of time my friends. So please do sit tight, because there WILL be another project. I'm already making some movements... slowly :)

In the mean time, there are still a couple of scarves available, I'm always free to chat custom sneakers and you can grab lots of goodies over at Society6 too!

Today I made:

A dainty little posy filled with some super bright colours!

...and I have to say, it's got to be one of my favourites so far... It probably has something to do with the little green chrysanthemums, they're just so fun to play with!

And I thought it would be a perfect subject for a photo on this lovely Friday. This is another wonderful flashback to the year that was 2010. It really is potentially my best year so far... 2013 could come through though... Hmm we'll see...

Oooorrrrr... maybe I simply can't find enough adjectives to describe the gorgeousness that is Beneath the Sun? (this is a much more likely reason...)

Every single thing that Leah Bartholomew creates for her collection is just so damn great that I had trouble choosing only one item to lust after... But these awesome ornamental woodys spoke to the aspiring florist within, and I simply couldn't resist the urge to share.
